Quisqueya (according to Indios Tainos) or
Española (according to Spanish
conquerors) or, finally, Hispaniola (according to British and US ancient diplomacy)
occupies an area of 77914 square km, which is shared by Dominican
Republic (48442) and Haiti.
The capital of the Republic is Santo Domingo de Guzman and it is so much important between
the entire country that often Dominican Republic is well know from the
name of its capital.
